The goal and mission of the Start2Teach Project is to ensure that every child has access to quality teaching by an effective teacher.
The Start2Teach Project recruits recent outstanding university graduates who after undergoing an application and vetting process, are offered a Paid position as Teaching Fellows for One Year.
Prior to entering the classroom, the Teaching fellows undergo an initial four-week intensive professional development training during which they receive instruction on best teaching practices and also teach sample classes to local students. Following the training, Fellows work closely with our mentor teachers to improve student achievement at their place of teaching assignment.
Teachers have the greatest impact on student achievement, and because few people enter the teaching profession in Nigeria, the Start2Teach Project is therefore designed to inspire and open new pathways into the classroom for these recent outstanding university graduates to make a difference where they are needed most, and ultimately help States, Education zones and Communities meet the needs of their students.
